Creating Inukshuk (an example of the consultative process I use)
I was asked by a Canadian woman living in New Zealand if I could create an inukshuk sculpture for her. An Inukshuk is a stone structure in the form of a man used by the Inuit people as a directional marker.
We began by visiting the Hinuera Stone quarry to select the stone pieces. I took them back to my studio to shape the blocks, seal and mount them into the sculpture. Throughout this time we communicated by emailing photos to refine the sculpture. I then delivered the sculpture and set it up in its garden location.
